ATHIRAPPILLY WATERFALLS
Athirappilly Falls is situated, Chalakudy Taluk in of Thrissur district, Kerala on the southwest coast ofIndia. Located on the west-flowing Chalakudy River near the Vazhachal Forest Division and the Sholayar ranges, this 24-metre (80 ft) waterfall and the nearby Vazhachal Falls are popular tourist destinations. There is another waterfall on the way from Athirappilly to Vazhachal Falls, in close proximity to the road and is locally called “Charpa Falls”. Athirappilly Falls is the largest waterfall in Kerala and is nicknamed "The Niagara of India".[1] Controversy about a state-proposed hydroelectric dam on the Chalakudy River above the waterfalls began in the 1990s and has continued through 2011.
THOMMANKUTHU WATERFALLS
Thommankuthu (തൊമ്മന്കുത്ത്) is a very scenic waterfall near Thodupuzha, in the southern state of Kerala, India and is named after the great hunter, Mr. Thommachen Kuruvinakunnel, who let the world know of this beautiful waterfall in the jungle in the late 1920s. Thommachen also played a big part in the discovery of the site for the Idukki Dam. This panchayat, belonging toThodupuzha Thaluk in Idukki District, is one of the major eco-tourism centres in Kerala. A song of the Malayalam movieChattakaari was shot here. Thommankuthu is located 18 km from Thodupuzha. Nearest towns are Karimannor and Vannappuram and Udumbannoor which are nearly 10 km from Thommankuthu.
ARUVIKKUZHI WATERFALLS
Aruvikkuzhi Waterfalls (not to be confused with Aruvikkuzhy Falls in pathanamthitta, Kerala) is a waterfall near Kottayam in the Kerala state of India. It is situated 2 km from Pallickathode. The waterfall measures about 30 ft in height and active only during monsoon. In summer the river almost dries up.
MEENMUTTY FALLS, WAYANAD
Meenmutty Falls is located 29 km fromKalpetta in Wayanad District in the state of Kerala, India.[1] It is a three-tiered waterfall with a height of 300 metres.[2]Meenmutty is a combination ofMalayalam words Meen (fish) and Mutty (blocked). Meenmutty Falls can be reached thorough a 2 km hike though the jungle from the Wayanad-Ootyroad.[3] [4] Meenmutty waterfalls are dangerous during rainy seasons due to high inflow and many people have drowned since 1991.
PALARUVI FALLS
Palaruvi Falls (Malayalam: പാലരുവി വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം) is a waterfall located in Kollam district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is the 32nd highest waterfall in India. Palaruvi is at 5 km distance from NH 744 and 6 km from Kerala-Tamil Nadu border at Aryankavu, 75 kilometres (47 mi) from the city of Kollam, 35 kilometres (22 mi) from Punalurand 152 kilometres (94 mi) from Thiruvananthapuram.
